On February 16, Laura Lawniczak<\/a> successfully defended her dissertation titled “Practical State-Machine Replication for Small-Scale Systems” (Praxisnahe Ans\u00e4tze f\u00fcr Zustandsmaschinenreplikation in kleinskaligen Systemen).<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In addition to her doctoral advisor Prof. Dr. Tobias Distler<\/a>, who leads the Chair for Distributed Systems at the Universit\u00e4t Bamberg<\/a>, the commitee included Assoc. Prof. Leander Jehl<\/a> from the University of Stavanger and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andr\u00e9 Kaup<\/a> (from the Chair of Multimedia Communication and Signal Processing). The examination commitee was chaired by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Felix Freiling<\/a> an.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The successful completion of the examination was celebrated extensively with family, friends, and former and current colleagues. During the celebration – in keeping with the chair\u2019s tradition – a creatively and ingeniously designed doctoral hat was presented, adorned with references to many milestones and events from her time at the chair.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
